Greet the New Year With Whiter Teeth

Do you want a picture-perfect smile? From simply growing older to enjoying many popular foods and beverages, your teeth can get dingy. Fortunately, they don’t have to stay that way.

Teeth whitening can lift stains to give you a brighter, more beautiful smile. Professional whitening treatments deliver better results than over-the-counter whitening strips, toothpastes, and other treatments.

With expertise and the tools to give you a natural-looking white smile, Dana Samet, DDS, and our dental team are happy to offer the best in cosmetic teeth whitening to men and women of all ages at Dental Art of South Bay in Torrance, California.

Why smiles get stained

Everyone loves the look of beautiful, clean, white teeth. Unfortunately, many popular foods and drinks, along with biological factors, can affect the brightness of your smile.

Some of society’s favorite foods and drinks can stain the surfaces of teeth. Particles from coffee, tea, red wine, and dark soda can build up on teeth and cause stains. This type of stain is a leading cause of tooth discoloration.

Age is another cause of tooth discoloration. Over the years, the white enamel on the outside of teeth can get thinner and reveal the yellowish dentin beneath. Furthermore, lifestyle habits, such as smoking, can also cause discoloration.

Achieving a beautiful smile with teeth whitening

Before whitening your teeth, Dr. Samet will evaluate the health of your teeth and gums, discuss your aesthetic goals, and help you determine the right whitening treatment for you. If you opt for in-office whitening, you can start treatment the same day as your consultation.

To whiten your teeth, Dr. Samet and our team will clean the surfaces of your teeth and apply a bleaching solution. The bleaching agent is typically hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, and both are completely safe when used under professional supervision.

Depending on the condition of your teeth and the results you want, you may need a series of visits to our office. We also offer high-quality whitening kits you can use at home. If you choose a take-home kit, our team will give you all the instructions you need to achieve the bright smile you desire.

Always be sure to follow our post-treatment instructions. Consuming certain foods or drinks immediately after whitening your teeth can lead to staining. The most common side effect of teeth whitening treatments is tooth sensitivity, but this should go away in a few days. Dr. Samet will go over how you can keep your teeth comfortable and beautiful following your teeth whitening.

Make this year the year you’re proud to show off your pearly whites. To learn more about getting your teeth whitened, book an appointment over the phone with Dental Art of South Bay today.
